This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Transportation Department and providing the highest level of service to all customers. Coaches, trains & develops the department management staff. Serves as the role model for the department, promoting teamwork, ownership, cooperation and accountability. Leads the department in developing processes, procedures and controls to provide the best possible service in the most cost effective manner. Owns and ensures adherence to all methods and procedures. Monitor and recommend expense controls and measures that ensure the highest levels of production. Works with other departments within the company to adequately ensure that we are providing superior customer service which encompasses delivery times, quality and representation, customer relationships while minimizing overall net freight expense. Specific duties include:
• Strategic transportation planning and strategic initiative implementation.
• Demand Management – work with divisions/plants Customer Service and Sales to create delivery day schedule and time window flexibility for customer shipments, and effectively deal with customer delivery exception coordination and management.
• Backhaul opportunity optimization – work with Procurement to negotiate and create customer pick up allowances with suppliers, arrange pickup and delivery of inbound raw materials from suppliers coming into plants to result in inbound freight savings.
• Ryder 3PL relationship management, Service Level Agreement (SLA) management, and contract management including DCC Fleet and CMS programs.
• Division/plant relationships, communications, change management (Sales, Customer Service, Operations).
• Management dashboard reporting of transportation financial and operational KPIs.
• Division transportation budgeting input and liaison to financial reporting/performance on freight spend.
• Identify and implement Transportation initiatives to reduce freight expense.
• Oversee the Transportation Operations Manager and his day-to-day Transportation Operations Coordinator team.
• Oversee the Logistics Analyst and his/her analysis, KPI, systems support, management reporting, and day-to-day Transportation operations support activities.
• Lead and develop a high performing team of transportation professionals ensuring coordinated efforts and alignment with other functional disciplines.
• Ensure that the Transportation team is fully prepared and appropriately organized to support both the current business and the “future state” business processes.
• Develop the organization by evaluating each role and determining opportunities for improved efficiency and effectiveness.
• Manages the professional development and productivity of all staff members to ensure proper goal alignment, training, professional development and project requirements are met. Personally coaches, and mentors direct reports and provides career development.
• Deliver budgeted financial results with a target to lower freight spend as a % of net sales and reduce freight cost per pound.
• Conduct transportation analysis and identify freight savings opportunities, and work closely with plants, divisions, and management to implement initiatives to reduce freight costs while maintaining desired customer service levels.
• Develop Transportation KPI’s and track performance against these key performance indicators.
• Develop and execute plans for continuous improvement to reduce outbound and inbound freight costs.
• Transform the Transportation department into a strategic asset for the company.
• Build on company reputation and favorable relationships with the external community and business partners.
• Lead the development and implementation of technology to improve visibility outbound and inbound shipment visibility, service level and cost.
• Communicate and champion transportation operations strategies/initiatives at all levels of the internal and external organization.
Required Qualifications
• Track record of establishing and managing transportation processes and successfully achieving transportation cost savings.
• Strong understanding of business processes outside specific areas of responsibility including forecasting, production planning, procurement, and manufacturing operations.
• Track record of translating industry trends and best practices into effective supply chain strategy implementation.
• Demonstrated leadership and management capabilities with the ability to make decisions under pressure in an environment of ambiguity, and resolve cross functional issues with diplomacy.
• Ability to interact with all levels of the team, the plants, the divisions and corporate management.

Reporting directly to the Divisional VP Finance – Siding with a dotted line reporting relationship to the Plant Manager at Roytec. The Controller will provide strategic advice and support to senior management as well as being responsible for financial and administrative operations including procedures, controls, planning and reporting and analysis.
1) Controllership
• Responsible for the financial stewardship of the plant financial statements, including ensuring the provision of adequate internal controls and safeguarding of assets.
• Directing the maintenance of the accounting records and accounting systems including responsibility over accounts payable, capital expenditure tracking, inventory costing and management, monthly accruals, cash, foreign exchange, General Ledger maintenance and other related accounting functions.
• Incumbent will play a leadership role in ensuring compliance with US Sarbanes Oxley legislation related to effective design, and operation of appropriate internal controls.
• Responsible for ensuring that Georgia Gulf financial policies and procedures are being adhered to at the plant.
• Product Costing
2) Reporting
• Responsible for ensuring accurate and timely month-end, quarter-end and year end processes.
• Partner with Plant Manager and General Manager to ensure that spending is in line with strategic objectives, budget and forecast.
• Preparation of month-end, quarter-end analysis of balance sheet and income statement including Analytical Review Template and EBIT Bridge Analysis that is issued to senior management of Georgia Gulf/Royal Group.
3) Planning
• Responsible for annual budgeting process and monthly forecast.
• Work with Georgia Gulf Business Manager, Plant Manager and General Manager to ensure that budget and forecast is aligned with the Company’s strategic goals.
4) Strategic Management
• As a member of the management team at Roytec, provide financial advice and support to Plant Manager and General Manager
5) Other
• Liaise with external auditors as part of the quarterly reviews and year-end audit
• Liaise with internal auditors as part of SOX Compliance testing.
